The executive editor for the online news web site Huffington Post, Liz Heron, posted a photo she thought would bring her kudos and praise. But the results she was hoping for turned out to be the exact opposite. Many online posters on Twitter and other social media platforms blasted the executive for a surprising lack of diversity from a media outlet that is constantly attacking other organizations, groups, and businesses for lacking diversity.
The photo shows their editorial team consisting of 14 women and no men. If that wasn't odd enough, the vast majority of them, except for one or two Asian women, were white women. Besides lacking ethnic diversity, the editor board also suffered from age discrimination with the majority of those pictured appearing to be in the 20's or early 30's.
Perhaps all of us didn't get the memo that diversity actually means a bunch of privileged young white women.
