The dream of many sports fans in Las Vegas has officially become reality. The National Hockey League and the ownership looking to bring a professional hockey team to Las Vegas have official announced the approval of the team to join the league. The team marks the 31th team in the National Hockey League.

The other city that was vying for a spot in the league, Quebec City in Canada was not approved to join the league yet. The league say that weak currency has postponed their application to join the league and that if the currency situation improves they may approve them as well to join the league. Quebec City has already built an NHL ready stadium.

The new Las Vegas NHL team as of yet does not have a name but it does have a home. The team is expect to play at the T-Mobile Arena between New York New York casino and the highway 15.

The team official sent this message out to e-mail subscribers of the team:

"As of today, the NHL can now call Las Vegas home to its newest expansion franchise, which will begin play for the 2017-18 season. The announcement came after a multi-year mission, spearheaded by owner Bill Foley, to show that the city and its people are built to house a hockey team. With the completion of the T-Mobile Arena earlier this year and the continued success of the season ticket holder drive, support was overwhelming from all angles, helping the league reach their decision. We hope that you are as excited as all of us to welcome a major league sports team to our city with open arms, and for what is sure to be a thrilling inaugural season.

If you have yet to lock in your season tickets for the team, there's still time to do so. Season Ticket packages are available in 1-3-5-10 year commitments, with structured payment plans and seat selection details coming in the next few weeks. Becoming a Season Ticket Holder comes with an array of benefits, including a personalized seat selection process, dedicated account executive, complimentary team replica jersey, and potential presale access to other events at the T-Mobile Arena."
